Emily Carstensen

Emily focuses her practice exclusively on Family/Matrimonial Law. She specializes in high conflict custody and parenting time matters but also handles divorce, alimony, child support, domestic violence, prenuptial agreements, and post-divorce applications. She cares deeply about her clients and dedicates her time to helping them navigate difficult and stressful situations. She actively protects her clients and ensures that their needs and the needs of their children are never jeopardized or overlooked.
Emily is regularly appointed by the judiciary and her peers as Guardian Ad Litem and Parenting Coordinator to represent the best interests of children in custody and parenting time matters. She has extensive courtroom experience throughout northern and central New Jersey and regularly appears in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, and Essex Counties.
While attending law school, she was selected to participate in the Center for Social Justice Family Law Clinic. Thereafter, she served a judicial clerkship in Hunterdon County Superior Court, Chancery Division, Family Part with the Honorable Stephen B. Rubin.
